Seoul shares up 0.45 pct in late morning
SEOUL, June 12 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 0.45 percent higher late Friday morning as investors took comfort from Wall Street gains, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 6.40 points to
1,425.79 as of 11:20 a.m.
Shares of steel makers and shipbuilders traded in positive territory, on
expectations that South Korean exports to the U.S. will improve.
U.S. stock markets closed higher on Thursday with the Dow Jones industrial
average advancing 0.37 percent and the tech-laden Nasdaq composite index gaining
0.50 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,250.60 won to the U.S. dollar as of 11:20
a.m., up 2.4 won from Thursday's close.
