Doosan Heavy wins 74 mln-euro deal for power plant equipment

SEOUL, June 14 (Yonhap) -- Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., South Korea's largest power-equipment maker, said Sunday it has clinched a deal worth 74 million euros (US$96 million) to provide heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) for Iranian cogeneration power plants.

Under the contract with Iran's MAPNA Boiler Co., Doosan Heavy Industries &
Construction will supply the equipment between April-December next year, the
South Korean company said.
"The contract shows international confidence in our company's capability," the
company said. "We will step up efforts to obtain more contracts from Iran."
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction is expected to win more contracts from
Iran as the Middle Eastern country is actively building cogeneration power
plants. Cogeneration refers to the simultaneous production of heat and power.
Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction entered the Iranian market in 1999 by
winning a deal to supply HRSGs worth $30 million to a power plant. Since then,
the company has provided a total of 62 HRSGs to Iranian power plants.
