NSSA, UK space companies hold meetings

London, Apr. 17 (BNA): The National Space Science Agency (NSSA) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Asiri led the agency's delegation on an official visit to the United Kingdom.
The visit was coordinated by the UK Embassy in Bahrain as part of joint efforts to develop NSSA's facilities and the quality of service it provides to various sectors.
"NSSA looks forward to making the Kingdom the first regional gateway for space projects. This supports comprehensive sustainable development and economic diversification, and contributes to space science and technology advancement locally, regionally and internationally,"Al Asiri said.
The visit included meetings with several UK companies in the space sector .
The meetings stressed cooperation, exchanged expertise and discussed joint research projects to support the space sector growth in Bahrain.
The delegation visited the National Space Center to learn about the UK's community outreach experience, and the Harwell Space Cluster, which includes more than 100 institutions and business incubators.
The delegation also viewed the Satellite Applications Catapult, which was established to support UK innovation in high-growth sectors, including space.
The visit included a tour of the Technology and Innovation Center at Strathclyde University and an overview of the latest scientific studies and research projects, as well as cooperation.
The delegation held meetings with private sector companies in the space sector, and meetings with the UK Space Agency and the European Space Agency.
