Foreign Ministry participates in Second Arab Forum on Arms Control, Disarmament and Non-Proliferation

Manama, May 3 (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by the Strategic Affairs Sector presided by Ambassador Nancy Abdullah Jamal, participated in the Second Arab Forum on Arms Control, Disarmament and Non-Proliferation, which convened in Doha and was organized by Qatar National Committee for the Prohibition of Weapons and the Arab League.

 

Ambassador Nancy Abdullah Jamal emphasized commitment of the Kingdom of Bahrain to supporting the disarmament and non-proliferation efforts. She stressed Bahrain’s unwavering policy in boosting cooperation in this regard and complying with the international conventions. She also noted the significance of cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and information to enhance the experiences in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

 

Ambassador Nancy Abdullah Jamal underlined Bahrain’s support to the Middle East Weapons of Mass Destruction Free Zone (ME WMDFZ) initiative, in implementation of the resolution of the Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. She also commended the regional and international efforts to enhance cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) regarding the nuclear issue.

 

Regarding the growing international demand for ample legislation to combat funding armament and terrorism, Ambassador Nancy Jamal called for regional dialogue to ensure commitment to the international obligations and preserve peace and security.
