Al-Sahhaf: The FM discusses With His Iranian Counterpart Financial Transfers And Decrease In Gas Exports
Baghdad / NINA / -The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, discussed with Hussein Amir Abdollahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, financial transfers and the decrease in gas exports.
Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahaf said, in a statement, that "within the framework of continuous communication and exchange of views between the countries of the region, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein received two phone calls from Hussein Amir Abdullahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, separately.
He added, "The telephone discussions dealt with the Iranian Foreign Minister discussing bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries, and they also touched on financial transfers from the Iranian account in the Iraqi Trade Bank to a Saudi bank, with the aim of securing spending on Iranian pilgrims in the upcoming Hajj season."
He continued, "In another file, the minister referred to the decrease in gas exports from the Iranian side to Iraqi power stations, which led to a decrease in electricity production and caused repercussions on daily life. In turn, the Iranian foreign minister thanked the Iraqi government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for finding a solution to the issue of financial transfers with the American side, stressing that the gas problem is technical and there is no governmental decision to reduce the sending of gas to the power stations in Iraq.
He indicated that "during his contact with the Omani Foreign Minister, bilateral relations and maintaining coordination to deal with regional tensions and crisis management were discussed, and financial problems between the American and Iranian governments were discussed, especially Iranian funds in Iraqi banks."/ End
