MALAYSIA HOPES TO BE WORLD'S BEST TOP 10 SAILING TEAM

LANGKAWI (Malaysia), June 17 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is hoping to be among the
top 10 teams in the World Optimist Championships in Brazil to be held in August.

Coach for the Malaysian Optimist sailing team, Muhammad Sahir Abdul Rahim
expressed confidence of the team making to the top 10 based on its performance
in the Singapore Optimist Championship which ended Monday.

Malaysia won two gold, a silver and a bronze in the championship.

He said five sailors would be selected to represent the country and join
some 250 sailors from more than 50 countries in the championship in Brazil.

Meanwhile, Malaysia Yachting Association general manager Mohd Afendy
Abdullah said the association would reward the national sailing team for their
success in Singapore.
