Prince Naif patronizes launching of KFUPM-prepared Strategic

Riyadh, June 17, SPA -- Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz,the Second Deputy
Premier, and Interior Minister, patronized here last night the
ceremony of launching the strategic plan of the General Presidency
for Commissions for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice
(CPVPV), prepared by King Fahd University for Petroleum and Minerals
(KFUPM).

On arrival at the venue of the ceremony, Prince Naif was welcomed by
CPVPV'S president Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Humayen and a number of senior
officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Khalid Al-Sultan, the Rector of the
University, said the plan is primarily aimed at developing
administrative and technical works of the Commission.

On his part, Dr Al-Humayen announced the approval of the Custodian
of the Two Holy Mosques to establish the Chair of King Abdullah bin
Abdulaziz for 'Hisbah' and its contemporary studies at King Saud
University (KSU).

He also announced the approval of the Second Deputy Premier and
Minister of Interior to establish the Chair of Prince Naif bin
Abdulaziz for the studies on promotion of virtue and prevention of
vice at the Madinah-based Islamic University.

He noted that the Commission views the future optimistically under
the umbrella of our rulers, emphasizing the keenness of the CPVPV on
implanting the Islamic values and promoting performance.


On his part, Prince Naif called for the development of the Commission
taking into account the changes and developments.

He hoped that the strategic plan would positively contribute to the
improvement of the performance of the commission, and expressed
appreciation for the blessed efforts being exerted by the CPVPV'S
officials.

He pointed out the men of CPVPV like any other people are
susceptible to commit mistakes.

Prince Naif noted that former president of the CPVPV Sheikh Ibrahim
Al-Ghaith had exerted the blessed efforts, and urged the Ulema
(Islamic Scholars) to extend support to the Commission.

He also urged the media to extend support to the Commission and
highlight its advantages, and said the mistakes which might be
committed by the Commission, should better to be tackled by the
specialists.



"We should be proud of Islam and should be proud of the fact that the
Kingdom is the true Muslim country which adheres to the teachings of
the Holy Quran and Sunnah (the Prophet's teachings)," Prince Naif
said.

He urged the thinkers and researches to contribute to the efforts
pertaining to the promotion of virtue and prevention of vice.

Prince Naif confirmed the keenness of the government on extending
support to the CPVPV.

Prince Naif, then, launched an electronic site of the CPVPV and
honored the ministers, directors of universities and parties
supporting the ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by Prince Khalid bin Talal bin Abdulaziz,
other princes and senior officials.
