BUKIT KAYU HITAM (Malaysia), June 18 (Bernama) -- The Anti-Smuggling Unit (UPP) on Wednesday detained 17 illegal immigrants believed to be Myanmar nationals, among them a pregnant woman and a seven-month-old baby, close to the Malaysian-Thai border here.

Northerns state of Kedah UPP commander Mohd Noor Idris said they were
detained at a food stall at Km7.3 of the Bukit Kayu Hitam-Changlun Highway at

The illegal immigrants, who had worked in southern city of Johor Baharu,
capital city Kuala Lumpur and northern city of Ipoh, were waiting to be smuggled
into Thailand, he said.
They were being held at the Bukit Kayu Hitam police station before being
