ISESCO: Burning Of A Copy Of The Holy Quran In Sweden As "Barbaric Behavior"
Baghdad / NINA /- The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) condemned the burning of a copy of the Holy Qur’an in the Swedish capital, Stockholm.
In a statement, the ICESCO described the burning of a copy of the Holy Qur’an by an extremist in Sweden, on Wednesday, as “an offensive behavior and a shameful act that provokes the feelings of Muslims around the world during their celebration of the blessed Eid Al-Adha,” stressing that “the repetition of this disgraceful act by motorized extremists proves the defeat of civilization and avoids the spirit of tolerance that believes in cultural and doctrinal diversity, and leads to provoking feelings of hatred and reviving hate speech.”
The statement stressed that underestimating the values and principles governing the lives of nations and peoples is the most dangerous weapon of destruction that disrupts the structure of security and development in the international community, noting that "the repetition of this pattern of abhorrent transgressions will not undermine the value of the Holy Qur’an, in which the number of believers in it is increasing day after day in the east and west of the earth.
The statement affirmed that ISESCO is fully prepared to cooperate with all peace-loving global forces in order to consolidate the values of coexistence and the pillars of moderation and to carry the torches of enlightenment in order to prevent the spread and expansion of these reckless tendencies./ End
