LIGHTING SPECIALIST ACCENT EXPANDS INTO INDIAN MARKET
By P. Vijian
CHENNAI, June 18 (Bernama) -- Malaysia-based Accent Lighting and Design specialist, which is fast venturing into Indian cities to light up modern edifices, has targeted to earn RM350,000 (US$100,000) from the Indian market.
The company, which started its operation about five years ago, has
established a firm footing in major cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad,
Mumbai and Pune where increasing number of modern buildings are mushrooming.
"We have four projects running in India now. Our big project is in Pune
where we are doing work in Lavasa (hill station project) for Hindustan
Construction Company," said Accent's chief executive officer Ernest Poon.
"We are expecting revenue in the region of US$100,000 for 2009, similar to
last year," he told Bernama.
Describing India as an exciting market, Poon said the country's rapid growth
continued to offer plenty of opportunities to Malaysian companies, especially
those in the construction sector.
"We have done some jobs in the region like Sri Lanka but by and large our
focus is India, which is developing very fast. There is a big scope in India,"
he said.
Poon is part of the Malaysia Indian Business Council (MIBC) delegation which
is on a business tour to Chennai and Bangalore in south India.
