IMF staff to visit S. Korea for annual consultations
SEOUL, June 18 (Yonhap) -- A group of officials from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will visit South Korea to assess its economic conditions and exchange opinions with policymakers, the finance ministry said Thursday.
The team to be led by Subir Lall, the IMF's division director in charge of Korea,
will arrive here late next week or early the following week, the ministry said,
adding the exact date has yet to be determined.
During their stay that will last around two weeks, the IMF staff will meet with
the nation's key financial and economic policymakers from the finance ministry,
the central bank and the Financial Services Commission, it added.
They will also meet with executives of companies from the private sector,
including Samsung Electronics Co., the world's largest computer memory chip
maker, according to the ministry.
