BNA director-general participates in GCC meeting remotely

Manama, Aug.16 (BNA): Bahrain News Agency (BNA) director-general Abdulla Khalil Buhejji took part in the 22nd meeting of the GCC news agencies' heads committee.
Oman News Agency (ONA) director-general and editor in chief Ibrahim bin Saif Al Azri chaired the meeting which was held remotely by the GCC General Secretariat.
The committee discussed the joint application proposal for Gulf news agencies, as well as studying the current situation of news platforms that post misleading and false news about the GCC countries.
It reviewed GCC countries’ proposals aimed to enhance joint media cooperation between news agencies, including the second edition of the World Media Congress, which will be held next November in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi.
They also discussed joint media training, workshops, exchange of correspondents, the digital platform, content production, coverage of major events, standardization of journalistic standards, and adoption of artificial intelligence.
The committee discussed the proposal submitted by the GCC General Secretariat regarding broadcasting periodic reports to enhance citizenship, the issue of exchanging visits between editors, photographers and technicians in news agencies in member countries, in addition to another proposal regarding training courses in news agencies.
The panel set a number of recommendations that will be submitted to the next meeting of the GCC Information Ministers’ Committee.
