ITALY INTERESTED TO INVEST IN MALAYSIA

KUALA LUMPUR, June 19 (Bernama) -- Italy is interested to invest in the
Asian market, including Malaysia.

Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Italy's
Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Adolfo Urso, expressed his country's
interests when he paid a courtesy call on Deputy Foreign Minister, Kohilan
Pillay, here Thursday.

The sectors include agro-economy, industrial machinery, renewable energy and
nuclear energy sectors, it said.

At the meeting, Kohilan said Malaysia hoped to develop stronger ties with
Italy especially in the small- and medium-sized enterprises.

One possible area of collaboration is in the halal food industry since
Europe has a large Muslim population, he said.

Kohilan also hoped that there would be more high-level visits from Italy to
Malaysia.

Urso was on a working visit to Malaysia from June 16-17.
