143 foreign basketball players to participate in KBL tryout

SEOUL, June 19 (Yonhap) -- Nearly 150 foreign basketball players will participate
in a tryout of South Korea's pro basketball league, seeking a chance to play in
the country next season, its basketball governing body said Friday.

A total of 143 foreigners have been invited to the trial competition scheduled to
take place on July 22-23 in Las Vegas, the Korea Basketball League (KBL) said.
Currently, the nation's 10 pro basketball clubs are allowed to have two
foreigners each on their rosters.
Two former NBA players -- Samaki Walker and Amal McCaskill -- were among the
final invitees for the trial, while 24 athletes who once played in the KBL are
also included on the list, the group added.
A total of 20 players will be selected to play in South Korea next season
starting in October. Three players have already signed while 17 more will be
chosen after the two-day trial tests.
