PRESIDENT ORDERS A COMPENSATION FOR COAL MINE VICTIMS

Sawahlunto, W Sumatra, June 19 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudoyono ordered the West Sumatra governor to give a compensation to the families of all the coal mine explosion victims in Ngalau Cigak, Sawahlunto.

"The president issued the order by phone to me following the fatal coal mine explosion on Wednesday morning," W Sumatra governor Gamawan Fauzi said when meeting the families of the victims and handed them the compensation in Ngalau Cigak, Sawahlunto, Thursday.

The disaster occurred on Tuesday at 10 a.m killing 31 miners in the underground coal mine, and 14 others sustained injuries.
