MALAYSIA, INDONESIA TO EXPLORE FRANCHISE COLLABORATION

JAKARTA, June 19 (Bernama) – Malaysia is willing to cooperate with Indonesia
in tapping the franchise business opportunities in both countries as well as
globally, said Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Minister
Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said 10 Malaysian franchise holders were seeking potential franchisees in
the republic at the three-day Indonesian International Franchise Exposition here
starting Friday.

In line with the growth of the franchise industry in Malaysia, the Domestic
Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Ministry offers a loan package up to
RM500,000 to franchisors or franchisees for business expansion, he told
reporters after the opening of the exhibition.

Indonesia's Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu, who earlier opened the
exhibition, said franchise holders in both countries could look into the
possibility of working together to expand their business globally.

"This is a new opportunity but franchise holders in both countries need to
have in-depth discussions on potential products," she told Bernama.

Ismail Sabri and Mari later jointly opened the Malaysian Pavilion at the
exposition.

During his stay here, Ismail Sabry will meet Indonesian Franchise
Association officials and Malaysian businessmen as well as visit a farm managed
by a cooperative society in Bogor and a coffee manufacturer.
