Renault Samsung to debut New SM3 compact next month

SEOUL, June 21 (Yonhap) -- Renault Samsung Motors Co., the South Korean unit of
French automaker Renault SA, said Sunday that it will next month launch its "New
SM3" compact car featuring a roomier interior and higher fuel efficiency.
The revamped model of the SM3, jointly developed by Renault and Nissan Motor Co.,
is expected to compete with other compact cars such as Avante by Hyundai Motor
Co. and Forte by Kia Motors Corp.
Prices for the redesigned SM3 range from 14 million won (US$11,049) to 18 million
won, depending on accessories and options. The revamped model has a 1.6-liter
engine, according to Renault Samsung.
