MALAYSIA WIN TWO TITLES AT INDONESIA OPEN

JAKARTA, June 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysia won two titles at the Indonesian Open
2009 through Lee Chong Wei in the men's singles and the pair of Eei Hui
Chin and Wong Pei Tty in the women's doubles at the Istora Senayan Gymnasium
here today.

Lee defeated Indonesia's Taufiq Hidayat in two sets with scores of 21-9 and
21-14 in 31 minutes.

In the match, Lee's more aggressive style with accurate smashes forced
Taufiq to play defensively.

"I didn't expect to win, but today I also felt that Taufiq did not play that
well," said Chong Wei.

Meanwhile, their strategy of playing long rallies paid off for Wong Pei Tty
and Eei Hui Chin when they beat their Chinese opponents Cheng Shu and Zhou Yunli
who are known for their quick movements and hard smashes.

"What we tried to do today was to reduce their chances of playing a fast,
energetic game.

"And luck was on our side as we managed to take advantage of the situation
and win in two sets," said Pei Tty.

With the two wins, Malaysia dominated the championship this time.

China, India and Korea won one title each in the mixed doubles, women's
singles and men's doubles respectively.

China's Zheng Bo and Ma Jin defeated South Korea's pair of Lee Yong Dae and
Lee Hyo Jung 21-17, 8-21 and 21-6.

India's Saina Nehwal shocked her opponent, China's Wang Lin by winning in
three sets, 12-21, 21-18 and 21-9, but her surprise win delighted a large
section of the spectators who were behind her.

South Korea's win in the men's doubles came through Jung Jae Sung and Lee
Yong Dae who beat China's Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng 21-15, 21-18 in 43 minutes.
