S. Korea, Australia to hold defense procurement talks

SEOUL, June 22 (Yonhap) -- Defense procurement officials from South Korea and
Australia will meet this week to discuss ways to boost cooperation in early
warning aircraft, officials said Monday.
South Korea plans to purchase four early warning and control E-737 aircrafts from
Boeing starting in 2011. The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) in
Seoul said one of its top working-level officials, Choi Chang-gon, will meet with
his counterpart Kerry Clarke in Australia from June 23 to 26 to seek help in his
country's operation of the aircraft.
Australia, which already operates its own E-737s, could provide training on the
aircraft to South Korean pilots and mechanics, DAPA said in a statement.
