A Joint Saudi-American Statement on Peaceful Space Exploration, Trade Opportunities, and Exploratory Missions Issued

Riyadh, November 28, 2023, SPA -- A joint statement was issued today by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America, as an outcome of the official visit to the United States of America made by the Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Space Commission Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha, heading a delegation representing the digital economy, space and innovation system in Saudi Arabia.
The statement focuses on enhancing cooperation in the field of exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes, in addition to cooperation in commercial opportunities for space industries between the two friendly countries, and discussing the signing of a framework agreement on bilateral cooperation in the field of space for peaceful purposes, as Saudi Arabia is a signatory to the Artemis Accords, in addition to expanding discussions on potential collaborative activities in space, earth sciences and space missions.
Eng. Al-Sawaha confirmed that the joint statement translates the ambitions of the two friendly countries to expand the strategic partnership to empower people, protect the planet and form new horizons for cooperation in the field of space, earth sciences and exploratory missions, indicating that this step would contribute to the sustainability of the sector, enhance research and development activities and accelerate the growth of space-related technologies, in addition to developing talents and qualified national cadres through the exchange and transfer of experiences between the two sides.
The joint statement between the two parties is in continuation of cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields and sectors.
