Members of the Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit Meet with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross

Geneva, December 12, 2023, SPA -- Members of the Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit under the chairmanship of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, met on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Ms. Mirjana Spoljaric Egger in Geneva. The committee members who participated in the meeting are the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine, Riad Malki, Her Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi, and His Excellency Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
During the meeting, they discussed the accelerating events and dangerous developments in Gaza, the military escalation against unarmed civilians, and the importance of an immediate ceasefire to ensure the return of security and stability in the Gaza Strip.
The members of the committee stressed the importance of the international community making all possible efforts to stop violations of international law and international humanitarian law, and to protect civilians and humanitarian and relief personnel, expressing their condemnation of the blatant attacks by the occupation forces on hospitals and relief and shelter centers, which are a flagrant violation of all relevant agreements, specifically the Geneva Conventions.
The members of the Ministerial Committee called on the international community to take all serious and urgent steps to ensure the securing of relief corridors to deliver urgent humanitarian, food, and medical aid to the Gaza Strip, and to enable international organizations to operate without obstacles while ensuring full protection for them, as they stressed the importance of investigating the violations that have been committed and holding their perpetrators accountable.
