VISITORS, STAFF, ATHLETES TO NSC AND ISN TO BE SCREENED FOR H1N1
KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 (Bernama) -- All visitors, staff and athletes entering
the National Sports Council (NSC) and the National Sports Institute (ISN) would
be required to undergo screening for Influenza A(H1N1).
ISN director general Dr Ramlan Abd Aziz said the step was a precaution to
ensure athletes and staff in the NSC and ISN are not exposed to the danger of
the disease that may be spread by visitors.
"The Casa 1, Casa 2 and Casa 3 hostels in NSC houses about 400 to 500
athletes at any one time and we do not want them to be exposed to any kind of
possibility due to the spread of Influenza A(H1N1)," he told reporters here
Tuesday.
Dr Ramlan said screening would be carried at the two main entry points to
ISN and NSC, namely Gate A and Gate C which is the main entry point for the
hostels.
He added that everyone going through would be required to fill up the
relevant forms before passing through the thermal scanners.
Dr Ramlan said so far no athletes have been infected by the virus.
"Early this month, diver Yeoh Ken Nee who returned from a competition in
Montreal, Canada was advised to undergo home quarantine for three days as a
precaution although there was no threat of an infection," he said.
