Renault Samsung to build solar plant

SEOUL, June 24 (Yonhap) -- Renault Samsung Motor Co., the local unit of French
automaker Renault SA, said Wednesday it plans to build a solar energy plant in
South Korea to supply electricity to its logistics center.

The new solar plant, which will be located at Renault Samsung's logistics center
in Haman County, South Gyeongsang Province, will be able to produce 1,387
megawatts of electricity a year, the company said in a statement.
The plant will be completed in September this year, Renault Samsung said, without
specifying how much it will spend on the project.
"With the construction of the eco-friendly solar plant, Renault Samsung will
solidify its corporate image as a company at the forefront of the (government's)
low-carbon, green growth initiative," Renault Samsung Chief Executive Officer
Jean-Marie Hurtiger said in a Korean-language statement.
Renault Samsung is the second-smallest carmaker in South Korea.
