Air Force chief to promote T-50 aircraft in Singapore, Germany

By Sam Kim
SEOUL, June 25 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's top Air Force commander on Thursday
began a week-long trip to Singapore and Germany to try and sell his country's
supersonic training aircraft, the T-50, his office said.
T-50 "Golden Eagles" are South Korea's first indigenously developed light attack
aircraft, mainly built to train F-16 pilots.
During meetings with his Singaporean counterpart, Ng Chee Khern, and his German
one, Kalus Peter Stieglitz, South Korean Air Force Chief of Staff Lee Kye-hoon
will extend invitations to an Air Force expo in Seoul in October, his office said
in a release.
"In addition, Lee plans to discuss ways to boost exchanges in the operation of
Patriot missiles during his visit in Germany," it said.
South Korea agreed in 2007 to purchase a part of Germany's stockpile of Patriot
missiles. The Air Force last year received the first shipment of 48 Patriot
missiles in effort to replace its aging air defense arsenal.
