DPRK Focuses on Development of Fisheries

Pyongyang, February 12 (KCNA) -- The officials and workers of the South Hwanghae Provincial Fishery Management Bureau of the DPRK focus on consolidating the material and technical foundation.

They strive to build more fishing boats, secure fishing tackles and put fishing operation on a scientific footing and raise the aquacultural production in order to diversify fishing and extensively conduct fish farming and cultivating as required by the changing fishing conditions.

The officials personally went to the units in their charge to conduct a frontline-style political work and guide preparations for fishing and shallow-sea culture on the spot.

Fishery stations and small fishing stations ensure that fishing boats go out for fishing as scheduled.

Hulls, engines and fishing equipment are regularly maintained.

The Ongjin and Pupho offshore farms have raised the aquacultural output per hectare by applying the advanced cultivating technology to meet the conditions of water temperature and sunshine while using the existing production foundations.

They work hard to stock rivers with non-migratory fish while selectively gathering kelp as required by technical regulations.

The management bureau intensified guidance to put mussel culture on a sci-tech basis while pushing ahead with building fishing bases and combined seaweed processing factories. -0-
