Malaysia Reaffirms Commitment To Humanitarian Assistance In Syria In Meeting With IFRC Chief

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 29 (Bernama) -- Malaysia reaffirmed its continuous commitment to provide humanitarian assistance in Syria.
This was conveyed by Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Alamin in a meeting with the Secretary General of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Jagan Chapagain on the sidelines of the High-Level Segment in the 55th Session of the Human Rights Council at the European headquarters of the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, Switzerland.
Mohamad shared that Malaysia had contributed a substantial amount of US$999,975.00 to the Syrian Association of the Red Cross through IFRC, underlining the nation's dedication to aiding those in need.
The two also engaged in discussions on ways to enhance humanitarian access in Gaza and concurred that achieving a ceasefire is crucial for effective humanitarian efforts in the region.
Furthermore, both the Deputy Foreign Minister and Secretary General expressed optimism about future collaborations, specifically highlighting the potential for strategic partnerships between the Malaysian Red Cross Societies (MRCS) and IFRC.
