Daewoo Shipbuilding wins US$200 mln order to build ferries

SEOUL, June 26 (Yonhap) -- Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., the
world's third-largest shipyard, said Friday that it has won a $200 million deal
to build two ferry vessels.

The deal with Attica Holdings SA, Greece's biggest ferry operator, calls on
Daewoo Shipbuilding to deliver the vessels by March, 2012, the company said in a
statement.
The order is Daewoo Shipbuilding's biggest since August last year.
Orders for new vessels have dropped since the third quarter as a credit crisis
and the global recession prompted shipowners to delay taking delivery of vessels
or cancel orders.
Shares of Daewoo Shipbuilding were trading at 20,550 won on the Seoul bourse as
of 9:11 a.m., up 2.24 percent.
