KazanForum 2024 Provides Platform For Russia, OIC Countries To Cooperate In Science, Education

KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 (Bernama) -- KazanForum 2024 will become a permanent platform for joint work between Russia and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries in the field of science and education.

According to a statement from the KazanForum 2024 secretariat, at the end of 2022, more than 262,000 citizens of OIC member states studied in Russian universities, of which more than 84,000 studied at the expense of the Russian budget.

“Russia is increasing the number of quotas for free education for students from OIC countries,” the statement added.

The secretariat said more than 355,000 students studied in Russia last year and the number of foreign students is expected to reach 425,000 people by the end of this year. 

Students from the OIC countries make up the main share, the statement said.

According to the statement, the most popular and in-demand specialities for students from OIC countries are medical science, economy, software engineering, management, informatics and computer science, and international relations.

KazanForum 2024: Russia-Islamic World is scheduled to be held for six days from May 14, 2024.

It is the main platform for business interaction between Russia and the countries of the Islamic world.

The forum aims to strengthen trade and economic, scientific and technical, educational, social, and cultural ties between Russia and the 57 member countries of OIC.

Key topics of KazanForum 2024 include Islamic finance, halal industry, international investments, industry, innovative technologies, energy, logistics, tourism, diplomacy; environmental, social governance (ESG) principles, small and medium enterprise, medicine, sports, media industry, and others.
