Prabowo Wants to Enhance Friendship, Cooperation Between Indonesia And China

JAKARTA, April 3 (Bernama) -- Indonesia's Defence Minister, Prabowo Subianto, expressed hopes of strengthening friendship and cooperation between Indonesia and China.
 The matter was conveyed by the 2024 Presidential Election's president-elect during a courtesy visit to Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang in Beijing on Tuesday.

"We see the complementary relationship between China and Indonesia as a reality that we are very grateful for, for the friendship and trust bestowed upon us," said Prabowo in a statement issued by the republic's Ministry of Defence.

Meanwhile, Li assessed that the relationship between the two countries has developed rapidly and opened a new chapter in building a community for a shared future.

He said Prabowo's visit demonstrates the strong friendship between China and Indonesia, and is committed to working together to maintain mutual trust and strengthen mutually beneficial holistic cooperation.

According to the statement, China is ready to strengthen communication and cooperation with Indonesia multilaterally, such as through the United Nations and the mechanisms of East Asia cooperation, to better safeguard the interests of developing countries.

Prabowo arrived in Beijing on Sunday for his first overseas visit after being announced as the president-elect on March 20, upon the invitation of President Xi Jinping, whom he met on Monday.
