Samsung to give workers 300 billion won as incentive

SEOUL, June 27 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Group, South Korea's largest conglomerate,
said Saturday it will pay some 300 billion won (US$233.6 million) to its
employees as a reward for increased productivity based on better-than-expected
profits in the first half of the year.
The group said all of its affiliates except five received the highest A-grades in
an in-house assessment of the first six months this year. It did not disclose the
amount of its profits.
Individual bonuses are expected to be awarded on July 10, at a maximum of 100
percent of employees' monthly salary.
In the beginning of the year, the conglomerate said its profit sharing, which
normally averaged 50 percent of annual salaries, would be reduced to a maximum of
30 percent, while productivity incentives -- paid twice a year -- will be reduced
to a maximum 200 percent from 300 percent.
