Al-Sudani: Our Visit To Washington Comes To Start A New Page In Bilateral Relations
Baghdad / NINA / -Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed that his visit to Washington comes to start a new page in bilateral relations.
Al-Sudani said in a dialogue seminar at Johns Hopkins University in Washington: “Our government is aware of the vital role of universities in sustainable development, and we have allocated more than two billion dollars to the Ministry of Higher Education, and we have sent 5,000 male and female students to study master’s and doctorate degrees in international universities,” noting "Higher education is witnessing a significant expansion, with a 25% increase in the enrollment rate in public universities.”
He added: “Iraq has 31 public universities attended by 541,000 students, compared to 165 private universities with 211,000 students, while there are 18 technical colleges and 30 technical institutes attended by 69,000. Iraq has become an attractive environment for successful scientific experiments.”
He explained: “More than 60% of the population of Iraq are under the age of thirty, and these represent a potential group of students who are enthusiastic about higher education,” stressing: “Iraqi universities are independent and do not represent private, partisan, political or religious interests, and do not incite hatred.”/ End
