SEOUL, June 28 (Yonhap) -- A special exhibition featuring 12 South Korean
contemporary artists is set to open at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art later
Sunday in the first major group exhibit in the U.S., organizers said.
The exhibition, titled "Your Bright Future: 12 Contemporary Artists from Korea,"
will continue at the L.A. museum until September 20 and reopen at the Museum of
Fine Arts in Houston from Nov. 22 to Feb. 11.
The 34-piece showing is the "first major museum exhibition in the United States
to focus on contemporary art from South Korea," the L.A. museum said on its Web
site. The events are being sponsored by the Korea Foundation and Hanjin Shipping
Co., among others.
Among the featured artists are a number who have emerged on the international
stage within a Korean context since the mid-1980s, the Web site said. Their work
uses site-specific installations as well as video, computer animation and
sculpture.
The participating artists are Kim Sook-ja, Bahc Yi-so, Do Ho-suh, Choi Jeong-hwa,
Gim Hong-sok, Jeon Joon-ho, Kim Beom, Koo Jeong-a, Lim Min-ouk, Park Joo-yeon
