Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace

Pyongyang, May 2 (KCNA) -- Thirty-five years have lapsed since the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace was established.
The palace is a cradle of happiness for schoolchildren that mirrors the noble outlook on the rising generation of the motherly Workers' Party of Korea which regards it as the most important policy to bring up the children, the future of the country, and spares nothing for them.
President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il proposed building an additional modern children's palace in the picturesque Mangyongdae area, chose an excellent site for the palace, energetically guided its construction and solved all problems arising in its management and operation and hobby group activities.
Thanks to the loving care shown by the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un, who spares no expense for the younger generation, the palace has turned into a more magnificent one in the new century of Juche.
Over 19 million schoolchildren have brought their skills and hopes into full bloom and a large number of talents have been grown up to demonstrate the advantages of the socialist educational system for the past 35 years.
Every day thousands of schoolchildren cultivate their talents at the palace through diverse extracurricular group and mass activities, creating albums of their writings, songs, art pieces, and calligraphic works, etc., to please the Party.
The art group members of the palace have earned a high reputation through more than 2 800 art performances, including New Year performances, and at least 340 overseas performances and international concours and art competitions.
Sports group members won more than 7 200 medals at many sports contests and other group members of the palace proved successful in national programming contests and multimedia contest of IT group members from schoolchildren's palaces and halls across the country.
Under the uplifted banner of the educational revolution in the new century, all the hobby group rooms and other rooms for extracurricular activities were put on a multi-functional and multi-purpose basis and education and teaching were put on an IT basis.
