VENEZUELA TO LURE CITIZENS TO VISIT M`SIA`S HISTORICAL STATE

MELAKA (Malaysia), June 29 (Bernama) -- Venezuela will embark on a closer
working relationship with the Melaka Government to lure its citizens to visit
the historic state.

Its ambassador to Malaysia, Manuel Guzman, said that probably just a few
hundred Venezuelans visited Malaysia last year, due to the distance between both
countries.

"However, we have about 20 people from our country working in Melaka at the
oil sector in Sungai Udang," he told reporters at the launch of the Venezuelan
Week officiated by Melaka Chief Minister Mohd Ali Rustam here Sunday
night.

Also present was Tourism Minister Dr Ng Yen Yen.

The event is in honour of Melaka's inclusion in the World Heritage List by
Unesco last year.

Malacca (Malay: Melaka, dubbed as The Historical State) is the third
smallest Peninsular Malaysian state, and located in the southern region of the
Malay Peninsula, on the Straits of Malacca.

It borders Negeri Sembilan to the north and the state of Johor to the south.
