Syrian sports participate in 7 games in the Russian BRICS Games
Damascus, SANA-The activities of the BRICS Games, hosted by the Russian city of Kazan, will open neWednesday, and will continue until June 23,with the participation of 4,751 athletes representing 60 countries competing in 27 sports games that include 387 competitive competitions held in 17 stadiums and sports facilities throughout the city.
Syria participates in seven games: wrestling, badminton, judo, swimming, boxing, table tennis, and chess.
The tournament’s competitions include 27 sports: swimming, weightlifting, wrestling, table tennis, diving, karate, badminton, equestrian, wushu, chess, kurash, judo, sambo, athletics, fencing, tennis, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, Basketball, rowing, water dancing, acrobatics, sports dancing, water dancing, in addition to two types of traditional wrestling games in the Russian republics.
In a statement to SANA, a member of the Executive Office of the General Sports Federation and head of the Syrian delegation participating in the tournament, Dr. Marwan Dweir, said: There is great interest from the Russian side in this international multi-sport event, and preparations were made for it early, with great support from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan.
Dweir added that there is a wide participation in the tournament, more than fifty countries, and therefore the level of competition will be high with the presence of mathematically advanced countries such as Russia, Belarus, Iran, Brazil, and the republics of the Russian Federation.
