MALAYSIAN PM TO DELIVER KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT UNESCO CONFERENCE

From Ahmad Kamil Tahir

PARIS, June 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak will
be given the honour to deliver a keynote address at the plenary session of the
Unesco's General Conference here on Oct 6.

He will be the first Malaysian leader in Unesco's 50 years of history to do
so, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin told Malaysian reporters
after calling on Unesco director-general Koichiro Matsuura here.

"I handed a letter from the prime minister, which stated that he had
accepted the invitation to deliver the keynote address, to him (Matsurra).

"It will be a historic moment as no other Malaysian leaders had been invited
to deliver a keynote address at the conference. It is an honour to the
leadership of our country," said Muhyiddin.

He said Matsuura thanked Najib for accepting the invitation.

Muhyiddin said it would be a great opportunity for the prime minister to
espouse his mission and vision on education in an international forum.
