Saudi Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Participates in the Second Consultative Meeting on Enhancing Coordination of Peace Initiatives and Efforts in Sudan

Djibouti, July 25, 2024, SPA -- Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Engineer Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji, participated on Wednesday in the second consultative meeting on enhancing coordination of peace initiatives and efforts in Sudan held in the Republic of Djibouti.
El-Khereiji delivered a speech in which he stressed the Kingdom’s continued efforts to resolve the Sudanese crisis and its welcome and openness to international efforts and initiatives aimed at achieving peace in Sudan.
El-Khereiji added: “Since the beginning of the crisis, and based on the close partnership with the United States of America, talks began between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in (Jeddah 1), facilitated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States, resulting in Jeddah Declaration (signed on May 11, 2023) for the commitment to protect civilians and provisions stipulated therein, and (Jeddah 2) was resumed with the participation of a joint representative of the African Union and IGAD, taking into account the Kingdom’s appreciation for the principle of African solutions, in addition to the continued close Saudi-American cooperation in urging the two parties to reach a solution to the Sudanese crisis that begins with a ceasefire and ending the existing conflict in Sudan.''
El-Khereiji renewed the Kingdom’s keenness to restore security and stability to Sudan and urged the Sudanese parties to give priority to wisdom and self-restraint and to show flexibility and respond to positive and humanitarian initiatives.
The meeting was attended by Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Sudan, Ali Jaafar, and Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Djibouti, Faisal Al-Qabbani.
