Samsung's Lee pays condolences to Vietnam's late Communist Party leader

SEOUL, July 26 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co. Chairman Lee Jae-yong has paid condolences to Vietnam's late Communist Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong, company officials said Friday.

Lee has visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Seoul and offered his condolences to the late leader who passed away on July 19, according to Samsung Electronics.

Lee also met with Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Ho to express his sympathies to the people of Vietnam, the company said.

In a message written in the condolence book, Lee praised the late leader's contributions to Vietnam's development and pledged to continue efforts to enhance the relationship between the two countries.

Lee had previously met with Nguyen Phu Trong in 2014 in Seoul to discuss Samsung Electronics' operations in Vietnam and explore ways to strengthen business ties.

Samsung Electronics currently runs two mobile phone manufacturing factories and one R&D center in Vietnam.
