S. Korean ministry to hold youth workshop on foreign affairs

SEOUL, July 2 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's foreign ministry said Thursday it will
hold a youth workshop on international affairs in Seoul next week to educate
college students on major global issues.
Some 80 students from 52 universities nationwide are expected to attend the
five-day program, sponsored by the ministry's Institute of Foreign Affairs and
National Security.
"The workshop aims to help youngsters have a better understanding of foreign
affairs related to South Korea so as to educate them as global citizens," the
ministry said in a press release.
The program includes lectures by ministry officials and scholars of the
institute, as well as discussions on major international topics, such as the
North Korean nuclear crisis, free trade, the environment and human rights.
The workshop is held four times a year during summer and winter vacations. Nearly
1,000 university students have participated in the program since 2004.
