Eximbank to provide $490 mln for Mexican LNG project

SEOUL, July 3 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's state-run trade bank said Friday it will
provide US$490 million to support a project to build a liquefied natural gas
(LNG) holdings facilities in Mexico.

The Export-Import Bank of Korea (Eximbank) said it will help Korean companies to
participate in the project by extending $270 million in loans and providing $220
million in debt guarantees.
The project calls for building and operating LNG facilities in Manzanillo,
ordered by Mexico's Federal Electricity Commission to secure natural gas. South
Korea's leading trading firm Samsung C&T Corp. and state-run Korea Gas Corp. will
join the project as investors and operators.
Eximbank said its support is expected to help Korean state-run firms and trading
companies to diversify their businesses and to contribute to clinching similar
contracts.
