Hanwha Chemical starts work on plant in China

SEOUL, July 3 (Yonhap) -- Hanwha Chemical Corp., a South Korean chemical company,
said Friday it has broken ground for a plant to produce polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
on China's eastern coast.

The US$380-million plant, to be built in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, will start
commercial production in December 2012 and have an annual capacity of 300,000
tons, Hanwha Chemical said.
The completion of the plant will raise Hanwha Chemical's annual PVC production to
860,000 tons from 560,000 tons, the company said. PVC is used mainly in making
clothing, flexible hoses and electrical cable insulation.
