Minister of State for International Cooperation Meets UN High Commissioner for Refugees

New York, September 22 (QNA) - HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater met on Sunday with HE the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 79) in New York.
During the meeting, they discussed cooperation relations between the State of Qatar and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and ways to enhance them. They also discussed regional developments, mainly in the Gaza Strip and occupied Palestinian territories, Lebanon, Syria, and Sudan.
The two sides expressed their deep concern over the Israeli escalation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories and Lebanon.
The meeting discussed the previous cooperation between the two parties, as well as the State of Qatar's support for the activities and programs of the UNHCR, especially in Sudan and Ukraine, in addition to stressing the importance of concerted international efforts to provide aid to more than 120 million refugees and displaced persons who were forced to leave their homes due to wars, violence, and persecution.
The meeting also discussed the State of Qatar's participation in the Global Refugee Forum, held in Geneva on December 2023. (QNA)
