FM Affirms the Iraqi Government's Commitment to Serious Cooperation with the Int'l Community to Combat Terrorism and Eliminate it Once and For All
Baghdad /NINA/- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein affirmed the Iraqi government's commitment to serious cooperation with the international community to combat terrorism and eliminate it once and for all.
A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Hussein participated in the meeting of the Group of Friends of Victims of Terrorism, which was held on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and stressed in his speech: "Iraq pays great attention to supporting victims of terrorism materially and morally, since it is one of the countries that has suffered the most from terrorist acts and their consequences."
The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the Iraqi government's commitment to serious cooperation with the international community to combat terrorism and eliminate it once and for all, and to prevent any entity or approach that adopts violence, terrorism, extremism and hate speech. He also stressed not allowing the use of Iraqi territory as a headquarters or launching pad for terrorist organizations' activities, which contributes to enhancing international security and stability.
According to the statement, the Minister praised the efforts of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) in coordinating international efforts, commending the efforts of the governments of the member states of the Group of Friends of Victims of Terrorism to develop national strategies that meet the health and social needs of victims and their families, and guarantee their basic and human rights. He also announced that Iraq will host the Group's conference in 2026./End
