KSrelief Signs Programs Worth $14,223,762 to Rebuild Disaster-Affected Communities in Pakistan

Islamabad, October 08, 2024, SPA -- The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) signed four cooperation programs on Tuesday with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, and the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) in Kashmir. These programs aim to rebuild communities affected by natural disasters in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, directly benefiting around 360,000 individuals and indirectly benefiting 690,000 others, with a total value of $14,223,762.
The agreements were signed by KSrelief’s Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz in the capital, Islamabad. This event was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mohammad Ishaq Dar; the Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki; a representative from the NDMA; the President of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society; and representatives from various UN organizations in Pakistan.
Under these agreements, 1,000 permanent housing units will be built for families affected by the 2022 floods, providing safe shelter for approximately 7,000 individuals in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces. Each house will include two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom, ensuring a dignified living environment for the families.
In addition, KSrelief will establish 300 community schools equipped with solar power and facilities for clean drinking water throughout Pakistan, serving around 15,000 children. Indirectly, over 100,000 individuals, including local communities, will benefit from these schools. Upon completion, the schools will be handed over to the National Commission for Human Development, ensuring long-term sustainability and management.
KSrelief will also construct four secondary schools in Kashmir, providing a safe learning environment for 3,400 students and contributing to the long-term development of the region. Furthermore, a national logistics warehouse will be established for the NDMA in Islamabad, significantly enhancing the capacity to store and distribute relief supplies during emergencies.
Additionally, 22 service facilities will be rehabilitated to improve access to education, healthcare, and clean water, including schools, health centers, and water projects previously established by Saudi Arabia in disaster-affected regions of Pakistan.
This initiative is part of the commitment of the Saudi government, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to enhance community resilience in Pakistan, support educational and healthcare projects, and rehabilitate service facilities for early recovery.
