Prophet Mosque’s Imam, Indonesian Religion Minister Highlight Historic Relations
Jakarta, October 8, 2024, SPA -- Sheikh Dr. Ahmad bin Ali Al-Hudhaify, the imam and khatib of the Prophet's Mosque, met on Tuesday with Indonesian Minister for Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas; his deputy, Saiful Rahmat; and the ministry’s director-general for Islamic education, Kamaruddin Amin.
The meeting took place as part of the visits of the imams of the Two Holy Mosques’ program, implemented by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, to strengthen the role of these imams and convey the message of moderation from the Two Holy Mosques to the Islamic world.
The meeting highlighted aspects of the historical relationship between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, especially regarding Islamic affairs and the services provided by the Kingdom in this field.
Minister Qoumas commended the efforts of the Saudi leadership in serving Islam and Muslims, spreading moderation and tolerance worldwide, and providing all forms of care for the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors and Hajj and Umrah performers.
He affirmed that the visit of the Prophet's Mosque imam to Indonesia has had a profound impact on the hearts of the Indonesian people.
Sheikh Al-Hudhaify stated that his visit highlights the endeavors of Saudi Arabia to serve Islam and Muslims and promote moderation, tolerance, and cooperation. He noted the ongoing efforts exerted by the Saudi leadership to serve Islam and Muslims and advocate their causes.
Saudi Ambassador to Indonesia Faisal Abdullah Al-Amudi and Sheikh Ahmed bin Isa Al-Hazmi, the religious attaché at the Saudi embassy in Jakarta, attended the meeting.
