Ssangyong E&C completes airport construction in Equatorial Guinea
SEOUL, Oct. 17 (Yonhap) -- Ssangyong Engineering & Construction Co. said Thursday it has completed the construction of an international airport in Africa's coastal country of Equatorial Guinea.
A completion ceremony for Bata International Airport held on Oct. 10 was attended by Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, president of Equatorial Guinea, and other local officials, as well as Ssangyong E&C CEO Kim In-soo.
Bata is the second-largest city in Equatorial Guinea. The new airport consists of a passenger terminal spanning from one basement floor to three above-ground floors, capable of accommodating 2 million passengers annually.
The construction took 36 months to complete and involved various essential facilities, such as baggage handling systems and boarding bridges.
Ssangyong was also responsible for constructing Mongomeyen International Airport in Equatorial Guinea in 2018, building two out of the country's three international airports.
