Egypt Sees BRICS Breakthrough in Uniting Interests of All Its Members, Sisi Says

KAZAN, Russia (Sputnik) - Egypt is participating in the 16th BRICS Summit in Russia's Kazan. The country joined the association in January, along with Ethiopia, the UAE, Iran, and Saudi Arabia; the latter has not formalized membership but is participating at BRICS meetings.
Egypt sees a breakthrough that BRICS achieves by uniting in the interests of all its members, including in trade, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Russia's Kazan.
“We see also the breakthrough that BRICS achieves in the interests of all its members regardless of any pressures, particularly in trade relations. Especially between Egypt and Russia," el-Sisi said.

El-Sisi noted that Egypt highly appreciates Russia's support for the country's accession to BRICS, adding that he also appreciates the dynamic development of relations with Moscow, especially the construction of a nuclear power plant and the establishment of a Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal area.

Russia Interested in Developing Cooperation With Egypt, Progressing at Steady Pace
Russian President Vladimir Putin, during the meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, said that Russia is interested in developing cooperation with Egypt that is progressing at a steady pace.
"We pay special attention to expanding friendly ties with Egypt-Russia's long-standing and reliable partner," Putin said.

Earlier, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said at a weekly press conference that Cairo aims to sign bilateral agreements with BRICS members during the BRICS Summit in Russia's Kazan. Madbouly emphasized that his country seeks to strengthen relations with BRICS states.
