The Presence of 1,056 Iranian Researchers Among the Top 1% Most Cited Scholars

According to the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC), 1,056 Iranian researchers have been recognized as being among the top 1% most cited scholars worldwide this year.

As reported by Mehr News Agency, Dr. Seyyed Ahmad Fazlazadeh, the head of ISC, stated that the Iranian researchers in this prestigious category span 22 subject areas within the sciences and have been included in six lists (covering the period from November 2023 to September 2024).

The ISC head emphasized that the Islamic World Science Citation Center serves as a reputable international institution tasked with addressing part of the scientific and research needs related to monitoring science and technology in Iran, the region, and Islamic countries. In this context, the center identifies and introduces the top cited researchers each year.

He added that in 2024, 1,056 researchers affiliated with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been identified. As shown in Chart 1, there has been a consistent upward trend in the number of highly cited researchers in the top 1% over the past decade. Notably, the number of these researchers has increased by more than 12% compared to the previous year.
