Kyrgyz Parliament speaker meets with chairman of Parliament of Kazakhstan
Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Shakiev met with Chairman of the Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament Yerlan Koshanov, who has arrived in Kyrgyzstan for an official visit, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament said.
At first, the heads of parliaments met in a narrow circle, then the meeting continued in an extended format.
During the meeting they discussed the development of political-economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, including an exchange of views on inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Speaker Shakiev warmly received Yerlan Koshanov and wished that his first official visit would be successful.
“We are fraternal peoples living side by side since time immemorial and united by deep historical ties, with similar language, religion, traditions and customs I am deeply convinced that today's meeting will bring our cooperation to a new level, will give impetus to the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation,” said the speaker, expressing Kyrgyzstan's interest in expanding the achieved level of relations and further development of partnership with the brotherly Kazakh people.
In addition, he recalled the successful official visit of President Sadyr Zhaparov to Kazakhstan this year.
He emphasized that the exchange of visits on a regular basis is of particular importance for strengthening cooperation.
Along with this, Nurlanbek Shakiev expressed proposals in the sphere of increasing contacts, including in the field of solving trade and logistics issues.
In turn, Yerlan Koshanov thanked his interlocutor for the invitation to pay an official visit and noted that from the very beginning of his stay in Bishkek he noticed many positive changes and updates in the country.
He also expressed support for all the proposals voiced, and also touched upon the expansion of inter-parliamentary relations, including at the level of specialized committees and parliamentary friendship groups, adding that such a practice will contribute to the solution of a number of interstate issues.
At the same time, the chairman of the Kazakh Parliament reminded that Kyrgyzstan is one of the main partner states for Kazakhstan.
“It is very important to always support the agreements reached between the heads of our states, to intensify cooperation on all issues of mutual interest”, - emphasized Yerlan Koshanov, also touching upon some issues on the borders.
