S. Korean Yi Eun-jung wins LPGA Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic

SEOUL, July 6 (Yonhap) -- South Korean Yi Eun-jung grabbed her first LPGA title,
edging out American Morgan Pressel at the US$1.4 million Jamie Farr Owens Corning
Classic in Sylvania, Ohio, on Sunday (local time), her family and sponsors in
Seoul said Monday.

The 21-year-old golfer began the final round with a four-shot lead that Pressel
steadily chipped away at to force a tie and a playoff round, they said.
Yi hit a 2.5-meter birdie putt on the first playoff hole to defeat Pressel who
only hit for par, finishing the tour 17 under for a total of 271 to earn the
$210,000 winner's prize, they said.
Her victory marks the fifth LPGA title claimed by South Korean female golfers in
the 2009 season, following rookie Shin Ji-yai's win in the Wegmans LPGA event
last week.
Other Korean golfers also ranked near the top in the event. Lee Seon-hwa and Kim
Song-hee shared the third spot with American Michelle Wie with 16 under 268,
while Shin finished 17th with 12 under 272.
